December 13th, 2016 - Holy Innocents Episcopal Church celebrated its ninth year of the Annual “Paper Bag Pageant”!
This innovative “paper bag” Christmas Pageant is held once a year during the 9 am Sunday service a few weeks before Christmas. We are joined by our Holy Innocents Preschool kids and their families and the preschool kids lead us in some special music. Every visitor and parishioner plays a part. A paper bag is given out at the door, and all prepare with their costumes. At the proper cue by the narrator, every person joins the manger scene assembling before the altar. It has been a real chicken-skin moment each year as we all come gathered together to prepare for this gift to the whole world while we sing the carols of the Christmas season. The pageant originated at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kula many years ago. Holy Innocents parishioner, Penny Wakida, took on directing it for our church
Sunday, February 15 2015 Holy Innocents welcomed guest musician Christoper Grocholski. Chris is the music director at Trinity Memorial Anglican Church in Montreal, Canada. (www.trinitymemorialchurch.org) Chris' partner Dion Lewis sang a solo for the congregation to help make a very special day at the church. Chris and Dion performed at Holy Innocents again Sunday Feb 22. Social and Service Summer 2015 Holy Innocents parishioners and Bishop's Committee members gathered at Rev. Amy's house on several Friday evenings this Summer. They made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for A Cup of Cold Water. |
